2.eAccess Business Structure
(1) Whole Sale Business Model Structure
eAccess is the first company to establish itself as a ADSL wholesale operator in Japan. Under this business model, eAccess leases out NTT's telephone lines, and wholesales the ADSL lines (portion from the customers' home to NTT's central office) to the ISP (where the interconnection with the ISP is made). We have approximately 30 ISPs as our partners.
(2) eAccess Distribution Channel
Apart from the wholesale structure, eAccess has its own distribution channel through its partner ISPs, partner major retail stores, and others listed in the diagram below.
3. ADSL Network Structure
ADSL's data transmission goes through NTT's telephone lines, and then is splitted by a splitter into data and voice signals. The voice signals are transmitted into the Public Switched Telephone Network, while the data signals are transmitted into eAccess' DSL equipment located in NTT's central offices, relayed through eAccess' fiber IP-based backbone network to the network center and ultimately interconnected to the networks of the ISPs.

AOL Business
eAccess provides ISP service in Japan under the AOL brand, by partnering with America Online, Inc., (U.S.A.).
Under this new broadband era, the amount of information handled in the Internet dramatically increased. eAccess offers a competitive broadband service through its optical IP backbone network established all across Japan and its connection with partner ISPs. eAccess also promotes the migration of users from dial-up connection to broadband connection through its own sales channel in the consumer electronics retail stores as well as through database telemarketing.
eAccess continues to strengthen its AOL services, including the customer support system which received the "COPC 2000 certification" (a global standard for contact centers), the world's most advanced anti-spam measures, and rich and attractive contents centered around the entertainment and the community, and offer compelling services on a stable communications network.
eAccess also plans to expand its ISP network outsourcing business as part of the value-added services to its ADSL wholesale business.

Device Business
Although the vertically integrated business model had been the mainstream in the Japanese mobile phone industry, it is now shifting to an open and horizontal business model, which is the trend in the fixed telecommunication market.
As eAccess (the "Company") sensed this trend instantaneously, the Company established Device business which aims to be profitable on a stand-alone basis.
With this open and horizontal business model, Device business is to provide handsets to other operators and partners from an independent position by cooperating with vendors and contents & application providers.
Device business aims to develop application platforms and devices which can be shared by mobile, fixed-line telecommunications and WiMAX, in order to pursue FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) service. eAccess plans to develop Device business as one of the Company's core businesses, which aims to generate greater revenue than the ADSL business in the future.

Optical Fiber IP Backbone Network
- eAccess utilizes the dark fiber lines of NTT East/West, "dark fiber" (part of fiber strands that are unused) to construct the high speed of optical fiber IP backbone network. Core rings can withhold 10Gbps and this allows our backbone to accommodate increased traffic as we grow our customer base.
- Construction of the optical fiber IP backbone network is completed throughout a nation. By having our own backbone network, we are able to offer a high capacity network with increased stability.
- Our backbone costs are dramatically reduced by aggregating and replacing leased line with dark fiber. Also, by using our partner telecom operator’s long distance lines, we are aiming to reduce our optical fiber IP backbone network costs, and construct a seamless network model.
